Lenten & Advent Groups

Every year 2 or 3 Lenten discussion groups meet over a 6 week period. Most years, 4 week Advent discussions are formed. Information is provided in the parish notices when these groups are being formed.

Sunday Morning Tea

Morning tea is held after the 9am Mass on the last Sunday of each month, and is currently the responsibility of the Catholic Womens League. Any parishioners who are not members of the CWL but would still like to be involved in this ministry of hospitality can contact the CWL for inclusion in the roster.

The craft and friendship group meets on Wednesdays at 10am in the St. Josephs Room. The group does not meet during school holidays. New members are always welcome.

Villa Maria Care Group

The VMCG attends the Villa Maria Centre, and assists with the monthly Mass, weekly Communion, rosary and visitation

Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary is a spiritual society that mets in the St. Joseph's Room every Tuesday. Among its activities is home visitation, reciting the rosary before funerals, bringing Holy Communion to the sick, and assisting at Mass at the Wollongong (Figtree) Nursing Home. New members are always welcome.

360 young parishioners from the parishes of Unanderra and Berkeley attend St. Pius X School from kindergarten to Yr 6. The school was established in 1960.

Acolytes / Eucharistic Ministers

The 7 parish acolytes assist at Mass on Sundays and feast days. Eucharistic ministers bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound. There are currently 10 Eucharistic ministers.

groups leading the childrens' liturgy at the 9am Mass on Sundays. It is not held during school holidays. Those attending are aged 5 to 10.

The local conference of the SVDP society meets at the store on Tuesday evenings. The primary role of the society is the care of the poor and needy in society.

Sacramental Programmes

Since 1999 the programmes for the sacraments of 1st Reconciliation, 1st Holy Communion and Confirmation have been both parish based and family centred. Several teachers, several catechists and a few other parishioners have become involved in leading the 8 groups for each sacrament, and many other parishioners have become involved in the other preparations for each sacrament. From time to time a call for assistance is made in the parish notices. New leaders and other helpers are always welcomed. Refer to the Calendar page for dates for 2005.
